Planets:-
According to Indian Astrology, the destiny and traits of an individual are associated with the position of the planets on the date and place of birth. There are nine planets, which affect the horoscope and the life of an individual. The Indian astrology considers the movement of two luminaries, Sun and Moon, five major planets (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury) and the two nodal points of the Moon i.e Rahu and Ketu. It however does not recognize Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus.
Sun:- Also known as Surya and Aditya, sun is the ruler of all the planets. Sun is believed to be the source of vitality and the physical make up. All the other planets orbit around it and are dependent on the Sun's energy for the existence of most life forms living upon them. It is responsible for the success, intellect, wisdom, fortune, will poor, fame, and wealth. Sun is the ruler of zodiac sign Leo and number 1, according to numerology.
A well placed Sun in the chart, can give great abilities and makes a person cheerful, fortunate, and wise. A strong Sun can give rise to fame in his/her area, field, or even the whole world. If ill-placed in the horoscope, it is an indication of physical as well as possible mental or emotional problems, pessimistic attitude, humiliation at the hands of others and impoverished conditions of life.

In the physical body, Sun rules the heart, head, lungs, liver, nervous system and skeletal structure. It indicates the right eye in a male and the left in a female
Moon:- Moon is the presiding deity of the element, water and rules over the tides of the sea. Moon is the ruler of the plants and the vegetable kingdom. The Moon represents the mind and accordingly, it indicates a person's thinking, feelings and other mental processes. It gives intuitive nature, taste, youth, love of poetry, music, attractive looks and sensuality. Its influence makes one moody, emotional and sensitive.
It represents interaction with the public, or public businesses, water, liquids and the tides of the sea, over which it rules. The Moon also possesses dominance over the waters and liquids within our bodies. The Moon is also responsible for growth, fertility and conception. It influences childbirth and memory.
Physically an afflicted, debilitated, or otherwise ill-disposed Moon may indicate anemia, lack of body fluids or body weight, constipation and dryness of the skin. It can cause colds, fevers, bronchitis, intestinal problems, or even susceptibility to cancer. Organs, such as the lungs and kidneys, may also be weak and there may be menstrual or infertility problems in women.
Mars:- Personified as the God of war, Mars makes people under its influence short tempered, police man, soldiers, generals, and commanders. It influences energy, drive, administrative and leadership abilities, and independent spirit.Mars is the strong for those working in police department, miners, defense services, explosive experts, people dealing in copper and gold, surgeons, fire arms manufacturing facilities, etc.
Mars rules over the bone marrow and generation of red blood corpuscles, human blood, and the disease resistant power of human body
Mercury:- Mercury is the son of Moon and Rohini and therefore called Saumya (son of Soma). It is a neutral planet and therefore, changes according to its placement in sign and house. Being nearest to Sun, mercury is restless and this makes is quick changing and fickle. It has adverse effects when conjuncts with Mars and make the person nervous and insecure. It rules education, writers, businessman, intestines, lungs and nervous system.Mercury indicates various professions like mathematicians, astrologers and computer engineers(all are the areas demanding logics). Since it is a planet of scientific inquiry, all kinds of scientific researches are also governed by Mercury. Besides, it also indicates professions like brokership, dealerships etc. It rules means of communication, therefore telephone and telegraphs, e-mails, couries and post etc. are governed by Mercury.Mercury rules over the arms, ear hearing system, and the nervous system.
Jupiter:- Jupiter is also well known as ‘Brahaspati’ or ‘Guru’. Jupiter is believed to rule both Moon and Sun and controls the movement of the planets. Jupiter signifies luck and fortune. The planet is responsible for success, fortune, luck and fame. Jupiter is an important planets for females (their married life and its success). People with high ambitions, priests, religious teachers, ministers, politicians are all influenced by Jupiter.
The position of Jupiter in ones' chart serves as an indicator of one's faith, confidence and buoyancy. It shows the areas where one will find opportunity, growth and fulfillment. A well placed Jupiter is associated with the spiritual, philosophical and intellectual realms. An overstress on the function of Jupiter may lead to exaggeration, delusions of grandeur, and a depletion of energies through over-extension. A lack of Jupiter's influence could lead to pessimism, feelings of inadequacy, depression and lethargy.
An ill disposed Jupiter leads to digestive disorders, gallstones, diabetes, low blood sugar, indigestion, gas, jaundice, hemorrhoids, obesity, malnutrition, hepatitis, obesity, weak digestion, blood sugar, and weight gain.
Venus:- Venus is also known as 'Shukra' and governs romance, beauty, passion, wealth, dance, music, rain and bed room. A strong Venus brings comfort, wealth, and attraction to opposite sex. The planet Venus is all about pleasure - love, romance and harmony in our emotional attachments, marriages, friendships and other unions. Venus is content to spread happiness and tenderness, all the while teaching us how to love and appreciate others and the things that we possess. While Mars represents the youthful male in our solar system, Venus is the charming princess. Hence Venus is to be considered for happy married life. A well placed Venus in a man's horoscope indicates good relationship with his wife.
The arts (music, dance, drama and literature, to name a few) and a sense of the aesthetic fall within the ream of Venus. Venus beseeches us to indulge our senses and revel in the beauty of our world. This Planet is inextricably linked to refinement, culture, charm and grace. Venus has a feminine energy and rules both Taurus and Libra.
Venus rules over eyes, nose, chin, throat, sexual organs, kidneys, bladder etc. A badly placed Venus indicates dysfunction of these parts. Beauty is also strongly associated with Venus.
Saturn:- Saturn is a cold and dry planet. The sight of Saturn is considered bad and when ill-placed, causes distress, failure, dejection, difficulties, nervousness, sorrow. It destroys the house it occupies but when well placed it gives fame, success, honor, justice, love, wisdom, leadership ability, authority and long life.This masculine energy rules Capricorn and Aquarius.Saturn being the eternal employee, makes its subjects work in secondary positions, doing dull routine and ordinary jobs. These people generally reach the position of their section heads towards the fag end of their careers. Also historians, archaeologista, covators of museums, workers in refrigeration factories etc. are ruled by Saturn. Saturn doesn't make things easy, it rather commands to get to work and to work hard. Discipline and responsibility are important to this planet.
Saturn is cold and dry planet. Saturn rules over the hard parts of human body - bones, teeth, knees and ears. Since it is a slow moving, cold planet, it also indicates recurring problems, that do not cause total damage in one stroke, i.e. cold, cough, bronchitis, rheumatism, TB, pyorrhea etc.
Rahu:- Rahu is not the actual planet but is an imaginary planet. Rahu is a node that is positioned where the earth's trajectory around the Sun and the Moon's trajectory around the Earth meet. According to Indian mythology, Rahu represents the head of a demon. Rahu is responsible for Solar eclipse. When Rahu, Sun and Moon are in the same zodiacal longitude Solar eclipse takes place.
According to the Puranas, Rahu is instrumental in strengthening one's power and converting even an enemy into a friend. Rahu is often called the Planet of Success. Rahu doesn't rule any zodiac, since it is not a real planet.
Ketu:- Just like Rahu, Ketu is also an imaginary planet, a node. The two nodes, Rahu and Ketu are positioned where the earth's trajectory around the Sun and the Moon's trajectory around the Earth meet. According to Indian mythology, Ketu represents the tail of demon(just like Rahu represents the head). The two planets are the parts of the same danava(demon) but are 180 degree apart from each other.
The two imaginary nodes, Rahu and Ketu are the mysterious forces and show in the birth chart both karmic and spiritual influences. Like Rahu, Ketu is also not a real luminary and therefore doesn't rule any zodiac sign
